Fractal Diversity
Because “diversity” doesn’t mean what it’s usually made to mean.
This is not the diversity post I have been putting off writing, but it is adjacent to it.
no one actually cares about diversity of ideas when they say diversity, which just means “stable tribal representation”
…maybe. But the calls for diversity are often justified with, e.g., claims that it’s important to consider a variety of perspectives. Which is true, and if you’re missing perspectives, it’s often very desirable to incorporate them. But it may also be useful to respond with “we have a variety of perspectives, and it looks like you’re trying to drown that out with your single perspective.”
