Viral horror game that initially appears to be a dating sim, but ultimately turns out to be a discourse sim instead, as your romance options gradually become less interested in you and more interested in narcissism-of-small-differences ideological arguments with each other.
Helplessly, the harem protagonist fails to bring the Ordinary High School Girls back to normal over whether social democracy, welfare capitalism, or democratic socialism were ultimately responsible for GamerGate, due to his complete lack of a personality. Ideological arguments slide into personal drama, sabotage and reprisals. Each seemingly reasonable response he makes only spirals the situation farther out of control.
Each playthrough is somewhat unique due to randomization of various data and additional dialogues. Youtubers attempt to get a high score by surviving the longest.
No, see, the anon’s suggested game but unironically. Or something like it, anyway.
It is good to have media through which The Discourse can be advanced in a sane, charitable, multipolar way. It is good to have some methodology by which a wide variety of different ideological positions can be introduced to people, and critiqued and defended, in way that will foster engagement rather than immediate tribal shunning.
And there are certain populations for whom it has been established that, if you want to introduce them to anything, “have the objects of your discussion take the form of cute anime waifus” is a pretty good starting place.
…it is possible that various of my LARPs amount to, more or less, this.
(It’s OK, gamer-kun. Someday, Liberal Technocracy-sempai will notice you…)
